“Voting at school is a unique civic learning experience.”

Amrita Vidyalayam Sadashivgad, Karwar held elections to select the School Leader and Vice-leader on June 18, 2019. The objective of the election was to educate the students about the importance of voting and to train them in the electoral process.

The election procedure started with seeking Amma’s blessings by lighting the sacred lamp. One by one, students of classes VIII to X entered the school hall which was converted into a polling station with a waiting area, a polling booth, a ballot box and election staff. Students enthusiastically cast their vote for their favourite leaders, and were very surprised to have their left forefingers marked with ink as a sign of voting. Later, the ballot box was sealed and handed over to the Principal and Headmistress by the Activity Committee members for further procedures.
