Amrita Vidyalayam Sadashivgad, Karwar celebrated Environment Day with great zeal on June 7, 2019 in the school prayer hall. The main aim of observing this day was to change the attitude of students towards the environment and advocate a partnership between each individual and society to ensure a safe future.
The Chief Guest, Shri Ganapati V. Naik, RFO, Gopashitta lit the sacred lamp and inaugurated the programme which was presided over by Principal Amalamrita Chaitanyaji. It was a unique celebration as the Forest Department took the initiative to donate 90 saplings to selected students of classes I to X. This step taken by the Forest Department contributed to the might of nature conservation efforts as our school celebrated World Environment Day. Dheeraj V.V. of Class VIII presented a thought provoking speech on environmental pollution, and the history and importance of Environment Day.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Chief Guest Shri Ganapathi V. Naik appealed to the students and teachers to adopt green ways of life. He also said that the problem of global warming was caused by deforestation due to large scale felling of trees, and in order to tackle the problem of pollution and global warming, more and more saplings need to be planted. He concluded by saying
that living in harmony with Nature would lead to a better future. The Principal also inspired the students to work collectively for the protection of the Earth and emphasized the need to work towards a greener world.
The celebration was very informative and served as an eye–opener for all the young children of our school.
